Bay Shore is a hamlet in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County, New York. It is on the south shore of Long Island adjoining the Great South Bay.
 

Bay Shore is one of Long Island's oldest hamlets, purchased from the Secatogue Native Americans in 1708, though the Sagtikos Manor in West Bay Shore was built in 1697.


Bay Shore has been widely known for its resorts and shopping for well over a century, since well-to-do New York City residents began vacationing there in the late 1800s. 


Since the 1980s, Bay Shore has been undergoing a resurgence that continues today with the building of upscale townhouses, condos and gated communities. Main Street seen a growth in beauty and popularity with offices, boutiques and restaurants attracting shoppers from near and far.


Bay Shore is a short drive from MacArthur Airport, with JFK and LaGuardia accessible as well. Local ferries serve Fire Island, and the Long Island Railroad brings shoppers and visitors from all parts west. 


Residents live in quaint starter homes, medium sized splits and modified capes, and upscale modern and Victorial properties that are the height of elegance.
